1977 E150 front end noise.

I have a 1977 e150, 3spd 351. Just over 140,00 original miles..It makes a little rattle on front right when hit bumps. I already replaced the shocks. The front r-shock was junk, but noise still there, Dont really notice anything in the steering wheel when this happens. Everything looked normal and tight. ?? Maybe control arm bushings??

Could be the Radius arm bushings.

Not too familiar with that chassis but if it has a front sway bar with end links those bushings could also be worn or missing, allowing the bar to bounce around over bumps.

On my motorhome, the drivers side front sway bar bushing is completely missing (as so as all other rubber bushings in that area) as I have a nasty P/S leak, and it ate everything away, and I don't have any clunks, noises or anything.

But then again, it does ride very heavy up front, doesn't really "hit" bumps, just bounces over them.

Thanks all. It is the radias arm bushings. I crawled under her and could wiggle the bushing and washer, tight on the other side..

I was gonna say i have the same thing on my Ranger...heat from cat converter cooked them...an easy thing to replace yourself with large size wrenches and sockets...

I'd replace any original bushings with urethane, Prothane or Energy Suspension has them to fit almost anything. No need to put the same thing back in.

I drive a '00 E250 and replaced all front end bushings when doing the ball joints including radius arm and axle pivot too---makes a huge diff, still going strong some 50K miles later---good investment!

Retighten them after they have time to settle.

I learned after replacing the ones in my F-150, they settle a little bit, you do the same for axle U-bolts, not sure why.
