No Start

Problems started a while back, long crank to start, sometimes a missed start, intermitennt check engine light that would go away, then drove all day start and stop in town, no problems until the next day when it wouldn't start. The engine cranks and fires on a couple of cylinders but will not complete the start. I'm getting some smoke at the tail pipe so I'm getting fuel but it dies before it completes the start.

2006, 6.0, 80,000 mi.

Thought I was loosing a battery so I replaced the batteries while I was waiting for my Scangauge II. Didn't think about loosing the stored codes when I disconnected the batteries.
Scangauge detects no codes so I'm not sure where to go from here.

Lets Program the ScanGaugeII with some X-Gauges

The ScanGaugeII isnt the Best Code/DTC Reader you could still have a Code in the PCM IDK

Best bet at this Point is program X-Gauges and start checking the sensors out

Lets start with these X-Gauges if a Gauge dont work let us know there are Alternate Codes to try

I guess I am missing something. How do I program X gauges? Not sure what you are talking about. The scan gauge seams to take forever to connect or I have to force the connection.

That SGII isnt the best code reader BUT

Were all getting it because of it ability to program specific Gauges with the Codes I mention Above

Each Code is a Gauge theres a code for just about every sensor on the 6.0L

Basicaly from the Home screen you hit MORE-MORE-MORE untill you get to the screen that says X-Gauge then select EDIT and type the Code In it in whatever Slot you want

Theres a Vidio on you tube I think about it

There is a good list of the X-codes also.
Just look down to the lower posts

Scangauge

Blade35:

Scangauge isn't going to work for me. Been trying to program the first gauge for about an hour, the gauge keeps going to sleep then it makes me start over. I don't have the rest of my life to try and make this work, is there another way or a tool that is easier to work with. Computers are not my strong suit.

Scangauge

Since my last post I have repeatedly attempted to program the scangauge. If this is what we have to work with we are doomed. This is a POS. Before I can get the info in it either goes to sleep or changes screens. I will be sending it back. I don't have time for this nonsense.

Start the truck and program it while running

I know what you mean mine turns off to have to enter codes fast enough to keep it awake or have truck running so I start the truck to program it

Just Start the truck after you get a couple Gauges in it you will Fly right threw it and be a PRO in no time

its not that Bad you will get the Hang of it We all struggled at first

Duh BENNY the truck wont start

Stick it into another Vehicle to program it while running It will still retain all the X-Codes you have entered when you unplug it and swap cars. The only thing you lose when unplugging it is the MPG stuff and some of the specific vehicle Info But all Codes will remain or should

then you can dial in the MPG and vehicle info Later when you get it running but at least you will see the Important sensors NOW

I know it didnt work like this for you but the Best Case senerio here is to get the SGII all setup and go threw what gauges work vs the ones that need an alternate code to make it read the PID some codes/gauges will need alittle altering because of Model Year and PCM Stratigy just the Nature of the Beast

Iv had mine for a Year now and am just barly getting sorted threw all of it with the right Codes/Gauges that work for me. It dawned on me I should get all gauges squared away with the truck running right and correct readings so I wasnt wondering if my code was reading right vs a Bad Sensor in the Mix trying to do it all with a Broken truck to complicate Matters

But Hang In there you will get it all straightened out

ie: Programming the ScanGauge II. It's a MUST to keep the truck running to set it up.
