You probably need to expand on your question a bit for the experts, but based on what you stated the first thing that comes to mind to me is an exploded EGR cooler. If the EGR cooler let go you will end up with a creamy gray sludge coming out of the degas bottle.
Benny hit it. You'd probably be better off changing the egr cooler with the oil cooler because of contamination and added stress. New hoses are usually in order also.
........... and whichever one you keep, please give some more info in it.
Based on my experience, the quality of answer depends on the quality of the question asked.
thanks bismic,
it has coated the inside of the degas to the point that fluid level in the bottle cannot be seen. after letting it cool down the cap was removed and what appeared to be "small oil slicks" of limited quantity appeared. to the touch it appeared to be oily but!!!
Probably $1000-1200 to do it correctly yourself, assuming you have most of the basics covered for tools already. We can hold your hand through it, it'll probably be more a factor of time and if you're comfortable with working on an engine. There are several awesome YouTube videos and a couple of walkthroughs with pictures on here.
Don't get overwhelmed, just watch the videos and read the thread a couple of times each and things will start clicking. Then it's time to start shopping, once you understand what the parts are.
