Transmission on my 05' 4.6 2wd has failed at 120,000. I would like to save some money by going the used route.

Will a 2007 5.4 4r75e transmission work on a 2005 4.6? Is it plug and play? Looks like all connection points are the same.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Your '05, that's a 4R70W, right?

Best I can find, you will have some wiring and maybe some valve body changes to make.

Thanks for the reply. My old trans is a 4r70e and I think the one I want to use from the 2007 5.4L is a 4r75e.

They have identical wiring or locations for the wiring harnesses to plug in. I am concerned that the computer in the 2005 4.6L will work on the "newer" trans.

 

The poster "Gotts2bme" in that first link did the swap, but it was different years. If the wiring is the same on the two transmissions, then the OSS and other stuff he talks about might need to be fiddled with.

I'm no trans guy, over my head in this. Sorry. There is another member here that knows them well, I'll see if I can flag him down.
