1960 F100 HORN QUESTION

Hi Brothers,
I'm trying to fix my horn... BUT the wheel and horn rim I have do not look like the catalog part, part #3600.

Mine has a steering wheel without any rib patterns... and it has a chrome horn rim rather than just the center lighting bolt button?

It looks old but is mine wrong: maybe early or later???

What do I do, I have a new horn kit but it obviously will not fit my wheel...

Nick.

Do you have the Custom Cab? Custom Cab included a "delux" wheel that had a horn ring. Most Custom Cabs I have seen also had a white wheel.

I do not have my reference materials with me, but a look at the parts book illustration should show if the parts underneath the button or ring are the same.

Thanks! But the button sizes: under the ring are not the same: the horn center is bigger on the ring? How do I define a 'delux' model... It is a custom cab..

Your Custom Cab IS the "deluxe" version. It's steering wheel should have had a horn ring, not a button. It has been replaced by a previous owner apparently.

1957/1958 Custom Cab steering wheels were black, while 1959/1960 were white. If I'm mistaken,NumberDummy will be along to (deservedly) dope-slap me.LOL!

Hiya, So if the custom cab has a horn ring not a button, where do you find them... it's odd because even in the old 1960 FORD TRUCK PARTS AND ACCESSORIES CATALOG the ring is not there, they are all buttons...

You'll need to find a serviceable used one,no one reproduces them.Try an ad in our classified section, eBay, Craigslist.Your best bet, though, is to join the FaceBook 57-60 group. You will not get the technical help that you can get on FTE,but it's the best place to network for parts for our Fridges.Good Luck.

I have seen a couple go on Ebay over the years but they were very pricey.

The steering wheels for 59 and 60 are the same, two styles.
black standard cab--B6C-3600-b C0TZ-13A805-D Button type
White custom cab--B9C-3600-A C0TF-13A805-B Ring type
Horn contacts are the same for both--7RC-3631
If your new contact kit is correct it should fit either wheel, if your wheel is correct! You may not have a correct wheel what size is it, 18 inch? Any numbers on it?
Posting a picture would assist others in helping you!
Good luck in your quest.

Did any of y'all notice where the OP is from? Melbourne Australia

So, y'all are assuming that a truck sold new in Australia will have the same parts as one sold in the US or Canada.

Anyone here on FTE have an Australian Ford truck parts catalog that covers 1957/60?

My '59 F-350 is also having horn problems. Someone mentioned a kit. What is all included in it and where can I get one? Is there a diagram of how all the pieces fit together?
Also, I have the black wheel with the button in the center. My button is broken. Are these available also, or do I need to go junkyard shopping?
Thanks!

Dunno about any kit, FoMoCo never offered one.

COTZ-13A805-E (replaced COTF-13A805-D & B6C-3627-A) .. Horn Button / Standard Cab w/o P/S / Obsolete/Reproduced

Applications: 1956 all trucks / 1957/60 F100/1100 / 1957/62 C500/1100 (C Series Tilt Cabs).

Illustrated/listed as B6C-3627-A in Carpenters 1957/66 truck repro parts catalog (2011 paper edition, page 21) for $50.00.

Call Carpenter @ 800-476-9653, order this catalog, it's free.

The 1957/63 Ford Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for about 22 bucks. Once you have this, you'll never have to ask for a picture again.

Hi Guys, sorry NumberDummy/theodore-teddy missed you post a few weeks back YES I am on the other side of the planet BUT the truck has just been shipped to me vix Texas – a million miles and nearly as many $$$. It's a left hand drive not our right hookers... Are we very sure the 7RC-3631 is the same for both... I got the kit from John F Fun Hundreds but it looks like a no-go fitment to me... Can ANYONE send me some snaps of the under side of their Custom Cab Deluxe wheel and spring/button column setup on their truck? Pretty please, for a way-down-under-brother?
Best,
Nick.

Exclamation 1960 F100 "Custom Cab" HORN QUESTION

It's odd because even in the old 1960 FORD TRUCK PARTS AND ACCESSORIES CATALOG the ring is not there, they are all buttons.
You are looking at the wrong basic part number. At one time, horn buttons were listed under basic part number 3627 while horn rings were listed under basic part number 13A805

Circa 1961: FoMoCo replaced basic number 3627 with 13A805, so both the horn button and horn ring are 13A805's.

How many 1960 F100/1100 horn rings would you like?

C0TF-13A805-A .. Horn Ring-Use with 20" Steering Wheel without P/S.

C0TF-13A805-B .. Horn Ring-Use with 18" Steering Wheel without P/S.

C0TF-13A805-E .. Horn Ring-Use with 18" Steering Wheel with P/S / Horn ring has Power Steering marked on it.

C0TF-13A805-F .. Horn Ring-Use with 20" Steering Wheel with P/S / Horn Ring has Power Steering marked on it.
================================================== =================================
Look at Dennis Carpenters (DC) online 1957/66 truck repro parts catalog: Page 22 (my 2011 paper edition), column right-top. See all the parts above the steering wheel?

Illustration is from the 1957/63 Ford Truck Parts Catalog. These parts (except the nut) are all horn related. Since DC has none of these parts, the basic numbers were eliminated.

The basic numbers are for both Standard and Custom Cabs. I've listed the part numbers specifically for Custom Cabs (except the horn contact & nut).

From top to bottom: 13A805 Horn Ring (pick one from the above list) / B9C-14308-A Custom Cab 64" long Horn Ring Switch Wire / B4AZ-13A807-A Horn Ring Spring / 7RC-3631-A Horn Contact / 7RC-14479 Index Spring / 359553-S steering wheel nut / B9TZ-13A809-A Custom Cab Nylon Sleeve.

How many of these parts (besides the horn ring and steering wheel nut), are missing?

You should get the Ford truck parts catalog (available on a CD from hipoparts.com). Since EVERY part is illustrated, the catalog can also be used as an assembly/dis-assembly manual.
