78' birth day present for my 16 yr old

My oldest son has been showing me pics of the older fords for atlaest a year now. So I came across a deal on a very clean 78 near Dallas area, Pics sent back and forth and the deal was made, My youngest son and I drove up and met the folks selling it.Very nice guy, could tell he did not really want to sell..... but cash and paperwork exchanged hands and were where headed back to Corpus. Even got a few thumbs up as motorists pulled up along the trialer checking it out. Got it in the driveway, fire it up backed it off the trailer and boy does it sound good with the small cam and turbo exhaust playing music. Plans are go back stock on paints and dress it up nice.Try to stay as close to stock as we can with in reason.

Thats a pretty sweet looking 78, Welcome to FTE. I am one of the many members with a 78 and i find them to be extraordinarily awesome. Is it an auto? It probably has a 351M/400, if the valve covers are kind of a square style then it might be a 460. Maybe you could get bigger pictures? When i click these ones it wants me to sign up with Flickr so i can't view them. Might i suggests Photobucket? Anyways, nice looking bronco.

Haha that is a sweet looking truck. It looks like you got a lot of the options with yours, like the dash vents. Mine has the defrost and floor heater. Being that you have the Ranger XLT model, from what i know the Ranger XLT, is the highest trim level available on these era. Then it goes down to either Custom or Trailer Special i am not sure. Your looks like it is in pretty good condition as well.

I doubt he will trade...he is loving this thing. Right after I bought it we went to port Aransas beach for a quick cruise with the top off. A few people were giving the thumbs up etc. We got back in line for the ferry and were waiting. This guy walks up and starts asking about about the Bronco, told him we just got it and what I knew about it. Then out of the blue he says I'll give ya 5500.00 for it right now if you will sell. I looked over at my kid and he said NO. I was ready to call a cab and sign the title my self...LOL. I paid 2500.00 for it and put a used set of rims and 33" tires on it and thats it. Like I tell him though, if he keeps it in good shape and does not rag it out, it will go up in value as that body style was only made for 2 yrs.

Yeah these 78 are cool. Yes Rob the interior is "groovy" but as far as i know you had to install your own discoball. Stop giving me ideas

That's the cats Meow. Why are you teasing me. The Uni is valued at 13k Bud. We can talk about this. Can't we? You build it and I'll buy it. Got to have a winch and lights also.

I dont think so, the one in my 92' IDI does not have any major wiring harness's going to it, that I have noticed.. I know my 89' IDI did not when I pulled it to do the single mass flywheel swap. An I6 with the Granny 4 speed would be sweet, always liked the combo myself. Would be nice the have OD though.
