I LOVE that color. I went out of my way to change my truck to "dark brown poly". You can see the mirrors I like too. I had a smaller set of "sport" mirrors on it when I got it which were about useless when towing a trailer. These are big enough to see everything without being too big.

r3skyline,

Welcome to FTE. Very nice truck - same color as my 78 only yours is in MUCH BETTER SHAPE! I say keep it brown. I agree with everyone on the minor things you could do to make it look even better.

Alan your truck is NICE!

Thanks Mark. I don't need much of an excuse to show it off. ...but really, I was trying to show how nice the dark brown and smaller mirrors can look.

Alan,

I agree 100%. I want to repaint mine next year if I can find a flareside bed - most of mine is in bad shape. I hope it turns out as good as yours.

Did the PO have trail bikes or something like that?

I just noticed you have trailer brakes set up (box under dash to the left). This would suggest that it towed a, hopefully light, item like trail or race bikes and had a camper for an extended stay. The only reason I can think that your spare is on the grill is because you have a extra capacity, 38 instead of 19 gal, fuel tank. A desirable feature if you were hauling alot a great distance. This would mean you couldn't stow it under the truck normally even if you wanted to.

In tow/camper mode the mirrors would have been flipped over and the mounting arms would've been swung out in order to better see around the load.

Very interesting.....
