Timing off on 75 ranchero 400 engine.

Hey i am phil I found out my timing is really off right now.

I just changed spark plug wires and my idle just went completly down thus leading me to believe there is timing issue according to the paper work on how to do spark plug wires/firing order.

For my vehicle firing order is 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8 which is a counter clockwise order.

Welp my vehicle acts as if it wants to start but then does not do anything so it goes... chrrr chr chrrr chr chrr poof chrrrr chrr chrrr chrrr chrrr

The wiring is 100% correct on my paper work and i wired it correctly.

How do i adjust the distributor so it fires at the right time. My distributor is actually crooked and on the paperwork it shows it perfectly aligned so that means my distributor is off by a few inches.

How do i know when my engine is TDC

Other information to be aware of i have a stock Vaccum advanced distubutor .....

400M in a 70s chero

Got the wrong form, friend.
I'm a 6 cyl guy so can't help. Look @ everything U changed B4 it stopped running. Did U change something w/the dizzy too? U may need to unclip the cap - it & turn it to match ur pic, then replace all the wires on it as in the other pic?
@ 178 posts U may not know how to find the right form 4 ur motor. Skip above the blue horizontal stripe to way up top where there's a horz. row of words - on this page. Click on "Forums" and scroll 2 find ur motor.
Good Luck.

ehhh man my whole vehicle is crap.... i only changed two things changed and i got too much stuff going on.... the whole engine working with that piece of garbage block is just not worth the time. i did everything i would normally do to my trucks... It is definitely not me... when i got the vehicle the vehicle is rigged all to hell and i know it.. If the vehicle was to specs then i would be able to do everything as described in books. I am no floozy when it comes to trucks but... man i am about done with it... not worth the effort to keep playing with replace the engine ...

well, Lets just say i played around with it now it runs... now to figure out what is the issue causing extreme low idle...

I am thinking about draining offf all the fuel or run it thru then drop my tank clean it then go from there.

all my problems started when i got crappy gas from safeway...
