looking for some info on doing a swap from the 460 to 7.3idi in my 79 f250. i have the complete truck to steel parts from and have no problem with fabbing stuff to make it work. the only real question i have is motor mounts. is there a way to make the 90s 7.3 mounts work on the 79 frame or am i going to be making my own motor mounts. any help with this as i know its been done and have been searching but found no real answers or photos

Is it 4x4 or 2WD? I did a 75 Highboy with a 6.9 years ago.

It was a novel deal but I sure like the Cummins better. More power and better mileage.

 

I`ve looked into doing this before and the best way I figured to mount the 7.3 into a 79 would be to just completely cut the engine cross member out of the 90`s ford with the 7.3 and weld the cross-member to the 79`s frame rails. That way if you ever need a new motor mount or something its just a simple stock one. Good luck and post pics.

When I installed a Cummins in my truck, I built perches and used the Dodge motor mounts. I'm sure you could do the same with the Navi engine.
