weird noise after sct sf3 tune

egr has been deleted for sum time now. Just got aroung to purchasing a sct sf3 tuner. after installing the tow hall tune i have a weird noise. kinda sounds like the intake or maybe turbo going... woof woof woof... when i let off the excellarater. It only does it when the boost gage reaches 20 psi, i let off the excellarater i get the ... woof woof woof sound.

Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be????

Wierd Noise

Is this a 6.0? If it is than the noise is your variable turbo housing unloading pressure when you let up on the gas pedal.

I had a 6.0 and the first time I towed a heavy trailer it scared me when it made a big noise as I let up on the skinny pedal.

If it is a 7.3 then I don't know nothing.

It is a 6.0... so it is normal for it to make that sound? It will definately scare you the first time it happens.

Some call it turbo farting..Could be the vanes are sticking. Solution is to remove and clean the turbo..If you check down in the 6.0 diesel forum look in the tech. section. There is all the info needed to remove and clean the turbo, with lots of photos..If you need any advise the folks there can help you out..

reinstalled factory tune and noise goes away... still building the same amount of boost... (22psi) as with tow hall tune. Just wondering why the noise is only there when tow hall tune is installed? Is this noiose normal? Don't want to cause damage!!

Is there anyway that you can record the sound that it is making? Based on the description that you are giving, I would say that it's turbo farting, but I can't imagine why it isn't doing that with your factory tune.

My "05" did it as soon as I put on the aftermarket cold air intake and exhaust. Even without a programmer.... It did however become more frequent when the programmer was installed.

That I can understand and it makes sense considering what a programmer does. However, not doing it period with a stock tune, either the conditions aren't being totally replicated correctly or it's a different noise.

hey guys... turns out that i had sticking vanes. I removed turbo and broke it down. Had to replace a few parts and gave it a good cleaning. i no longer have a farting turbo. Reinstalled tow hall program and all is well. Seams to have better throttle response from an idle also.
