Well i got my contact ring in today and my cruise works but i still need to get the recall done what fails on it and is it safe to use cruise till i get it done thanks
The recall is for the pressure switch on the master cylinder. It supposedly leaks brake fluid into the contacts inside of it. It is always electrically hot, even with the key off. The recall part is just an inline fuse and a new plug, instead of fixing the faulty switch. A rather poor attempt in my eyes, I just unhooked mine and never use cruise.
I put it off for a couple years because I don't like the dealers touching my truck. I finally got tired of hearing about trucks burning up so I took it in. I pulled up and they told me to go to the waiting room. I told the guy if I do they will not be able to get the job done. They of course asked why and I said that when I added my intercooler I had to bend the hood release and nobody can open it except me. LOL Took them two minutes and away I went.
Lol i plan on getting it done next week but i dont want to take the risk i like my truck full coverage or not it would b hard to find one w the mileage mine has around here
How does one find out about the recall. I know I got a recall notice in about 8 months ago. I called about it about 5 times. Left messages every time and never heard back from anyone.
I just told a service rep why I was there and he walked away for a sec and came back with the link. He just put it in himself. I wasn't on the lot for more than 10 minutes.

It's the brake pressure switch on the master cylinder that is defective, it can leak fluid through the switch and start a fire.. If you unplug the switch and put a jumper wire in the connector your cruise will still work without the risk of fire. On a gasser the harness is hot all the time but on a diesel there is voltage only when the ignition switch is in the run position. Here's a picture of my leaky switch, you can see the fluid sitting on top of the switch and the jumper I used to bypass the switch so that the CC would still work.
