Fuel filter on '08 Expedition

Dropped off my wife's '08 Expedition EL Limited at dealer this morning for oil change. Maintenance schedule from Ford recommends change of fuel filter at 30K miles, so asked for that to be done as well. When I received a call from garage to let me know vehicle was ready for pickup, the serviceman told me the fuel filter wasn't changed since vehicle "doesn't have one." Is this true? I was a little irked that they charged me $27 for "labor" to change fuel filter. Shouldn't they have known there wasn't any filter before trying to replace it?

The 07-09 Expeditions do have fuel filters. 2010+ models have them built into the fuel tank. I know on my 07 the fuel filter is on the inside of the frame rail right under the driver seat area. It is probably the same on the 08.

So the dealership charged you $27 to find out that your car supposedly does not have a fuel filter??? It might be time to find a new dealership.

Take this to them and ask them what number 11 is if your car doesn't have a fuel filter.

If they charged you $27 labor for something they didn't do, you should be back their pronto for a refund. They can either change the filter that's there for what you paid, or they can refund your money for something they admit they didn't do.

They pretty much "stole" $27 from you.

I have changed mine twice. They are lying. Tell them you will report them to the DOCA or whatever agency your state has for auto repair fraud.

I have been screwing around with #18 & 19 in the above diagram for a while now. I cannot get them off. I have the tool for #15. What is the trick for 18 & 19?

There is a tiny barb on the end of the clip that locks it in place. Look at the new filter clips and you will see what I mean. Its a bit like a safety that prevents the clip from falling out. Try squeezing the ends together while lifting the clip up. I use a small screw driver to lift it up. Be gentle or you'll break something.

This is for my 2007 Expedition EL. What tool is the best to use when removing the fuel filter? What size is the fuel line? How do I relieve the pressure within the fuel line?
Thanks, Ptmares

OEM/Fuel line disconnect set for Ford and GM. Auto Zone will loan you the tool for deposit and credit back when you return it. Their is a valve on the fuel injectors on the drivers side. It is used for checking fuel pressure and relieving it. I just let the fuel come out when pulling apart.
