can someone chime in here and explain the different oil types and which brand is better for the injectors?

 

Any API CJ rated oil is fine. Some prefer synthetic as I do and some prefer the dino oil. It's a matter of personal preference. You can debate oil forever and never have a conclusive answer. I look for CJ rated synthetic on sale and use that. Never had a problem. You do want to use only OEM filters however.

 

Is your reference to "oil types" referring to different viscosity, or conventional vs synthetic, or something else?

You will get about as many opinions on the oil subject as there are 6.0L owners. As for me I use Rotella synthetic and change it every 5K miles.
