Before I install the new VSS on '95 F150

I noticed when I took out the old one yesterday, it had a layer of oil on it. I just wiped it off and put it back.

Should I be worried that the new on will also get oily? Do I need to spray the inside of that hole with cleaner, wipe? Or will that make things worse?

Please stick to one thread about your VSS adventure. Oil/residue on the VSS is normal. If there is a lot of metal flakes in the oil that is a sign of a whole new issue.
