superchips

I just bought a superchips flashpaq tuner from someone. When I plug it in to the computer to check updates it tells me that the tuner is vin locked. How do I change that to my vin instead of the one that is stored on it

Sounds like the previous owner didn't return his truck to stock with the tuner before selling it. You either have to find the PO and have him set it back to stock OR send the unit back to Superchips and pay to have it unlocked.(if SC does that I know SCT will) The cost to unlock it may be more than you paid for the unit.

So I just need to have the owner return his truck to stock and that will reset the unit?

It should unless the unit has been returned to stock more times then allowed.

Yeah you got hosed big time there. I would have ran the Hypertech over with the truck. An SCT X3 with custom tunes costs less than that. A lot of people get screwed by dishonest sellers.

Ok I took it back and we put his truck back to the stock setting. Now it says that the vin is not locked. When I hook this up to my truck will the vehicle information that is stored on his change to mine?

The SC will upload your stock setting to it, then download the setting you want to your PCM.
What year truck, engine do you have?

Did you get the tuner to work on your truck?

The Superchips not working is the Almighty telling you to ditch the canned tuner and get an SCT

Custom tunes are 100% the way to go on the 6.0
