Can Torqueshift thermostat be removed?

For the process of thouroghly draining the trans fluid, can the thermostat in the transmission be removed? And then reinstalled afterward.

I have no idea but even if it could it's likely not easy to get to. Is all that work really worth the extra $100 it costs to have the dealer do it on a heated flush machine?

Anything can be removed, so can the thermostat.

Remove the transmission from the truck. Remove the torque converter. Unbolt the pump. Use two of the bolts in the two threaded holes with a slide hammer to pull the pump out. Now disassemble the pump to get to the thermostat.

So I guess the real answer is no, you can't remove it.

OK Thanks. Now that is technical instead of opinionated.
Yes, anything assembled can be disassembled. No doubt in this case it is not worth it.

$100????? Really????? I just had this job done here in Maryland and the Ford dealer charged me $240 for the flush and fill. They added on another $50 or so for the external filter.

Yes really. If you read my post I said an EXTRA $100. I was quoted $250 w/ the filter, so that was my starting point. Have you priced Mercon LV lately? Here's a link to it at O'Reilly's: Motorcraft MERCON LV - Transmission Fluid | O'Reilly Auto Parts so 17.5qts at $4.79/qt, that's $84. According to Ford Parts Buy 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty Parts | FordParts.com my filter for a pre March 2005 build is $64, for a grand total of $148.

Whew! I thought I was really shafted by the dealer. I missed the word "extra" in your post. I am still a bit perturbed that the cost of their inline filter was over twice what I could get that same Motorcraft part for elsewhere.
