trans mounts

I am wondering wha my options are as far as trans mounts. I have a 61 4x4 and want tto drop in a 302. I have seen the bolt in motor mount but have not seen much on trans mounts. the bellhousing will need o be changed and anotherr mount added. Have not looked under truck o see if holes are on rans for a rear mount yet. any thoughts on this. thanks

we need to know what trans you are going to run.... they do make a C4-C6 trans crossmember, you can buy it through Dennis Carpenter for 60 bucks or so.

I just went through the trans and xfer case game on my 85 4x4. I modified a 78 Ford trans mount and made my own transfer case mount. I put a built 302 in mine with a T18 and a NP205. Ford truck mounts are easy. I'll try to get some good photos and post them.

What kind of manual trans? Which xfer case are you using? You might can use the one you have.

the truck is stock and has a 223 6cyl with a 4spd trans. It is at my brother's house in ga and I haven't looked under to see if there is a rear mount for the trans. Trying to do a cost figure as far as rebuilding stock engine or swapping a 302.

Only bell mounts for the 223.

To complete the swap you can use just about any year up to 79 ford truck mount for the trans as the frames are the same width where the trans mounts.

Your 61 trans will not bolt to any 302 manual trans bell housing.

You must provide a new transmission along with the swap.

Depending on the year of bell you choose will regulate the years you can use.
