creative ladder rack / side mount

well i just came across a deal on this side mount ladder rack. i need one from time to time for carrying a two story ladder. problem is coming up with a decent way to mount the brackets. i have a tool box against my bed and dont want to move it 4 inches back to make room for the front brace. the rear brace isnt a problem. i was thinking about mounting it couple inches in front of my tool box but would need to make a brace to go behind the top rail for added strength. ideal would be to make two new stake pockets but that would be a lot of work. any one modified there setup, id like to see some pictures.
