1995 F-150 351 Yellow Vacuum Line
Hello there,
I was changing the PCV this weekend (what a pain) and noticed that the plastic yellow vacuum line behind it was broken. Anyone know what it is for and the way to replace it?
Also, the hose from the bottom of the PCV to the valve cover seems very loose in the grommet. It just wiggles around in the valve cover. Anybody else have that? Is it supposed to "snap" tightly in?
Thanks for any input,
Bill

Those little plastic vacuum lines get brittle with age. There's two ways to go about repairing it. First get a small peice of rubber vacuum line that slips snugly over the broken peice and use it for a splice. The problem is it's probably gonna break again. When those lines get brittle they get real fragile. Second method, replace the whole line. You can get a little roll of it at the parts store, but I've only seen it in black. Trace both peices and remove and replace. You'll probably have troubles removing the line from the rubber booty at the end. It's barbed. Take you're time and don't break it inside the rubber peice. Working WD-40 in helps. If you do break it, needle nose pliers are you're only choice. When you get done go back and re-inspect the rest of the lines. Chances are you'll end up replacing 1 or 2 more, that got broke while fixing the first one. Like I said they get fragile.
