Replaced injectors, ran like new for 1 day. Now won't run at all.

We change all 8 injectors on my buddies 06 F350 yesterday. We also did oil and filter change and changed the fuel filter on the motor (ran out of time before doing the other one). The truck fired up and ran after a lot of cranking the first time. It ran awesome, like a new truck. He drove about 100 miles since then and everything was great. He couldnt wipe the smile off his face. He just called me and said he is now stranded on the side of the road. He said it seemed to idle a little funny for a second, but didn't think much of it. Jumped on the highway and noticed a lack of power, then it stalled. Now it won't start, or if it does, it dies as soon as you put it in drive. I am trying to get ideas on what we should look at. I don't understand how it could be great for a day and then this. Any ideas?

Yeah, we torqued them and the oil rails to spec other than the 2 oil rail bolts that are next to the evap. I couldn't figure out any way to get to those so I just went off of feel to get as close to what the others were as possible.

Just curious after seeing your signature. Do the symptoms sound like something you have seen before?

yes possible a poor connection at the ficm or exhaust gas entering the fuel rail from a misinstalled injector.
do a bubble test. check the stickys at the top of the forum on how to do the testing. also check ficm voltage.
on a side note why did you replace all 8 injectors?

All 3 connectors on the ficm double-clicked on install. My buddy installed 7 of the injectors but they seemed pretty dummy proof from the 1 I did. 3 of them were throwing codes and we get parts at cost so might as well do all of them while we were in there. It made a huge difference. The truck has 160k and was like brand new for 1 day. I'll check out the bubble test.

Can you check the high pressure oil pressure? Maybe an o-ring came loose and there's not enough oil pressure to fire the injectors?

Well, he looked over all of the wiring and checked all the connectors he could reach and everything seemed normal. He decided to have it towed to a shop to have it looked at. I don't know if it's related, but he was pulling a trailer when it acted up. For the 100+ miles it was great, he hadn't pulled anything. Who knows. I'll update this post with what they find. Thanks for the help guys.

Did you do the bubble test before taking it in?

My buddy decided to just have it towed in so we didn't do any roadside testing. You guys nailed it. It was an improperly seated injector. The load the engine was under when he pulled the trailer pushed it up enough to loose pressure. Thanks for the help guys.
