I was just curious as to whether anyone had completely built/rebuilt the 4.6/5.4 engines from the ground up with any internal performance mods. for their trucks, or built a salvage yard engine or something up for a transplant. I'm not planning anything like this myself, just wondering if any of you all had done it and how complex/difficult it was compared to another average OHV buildup. Thanx.

 

i have done a top end rebuild and the toughest part was the wiring and the egr valve. i had to replace the head gaskets. the OHC's arent too bad. the haynes manual says that the chains are marked, but they werent, so i took a screwdriver and hit a little dent in the chain link that i wanted to mark. i would assume that the bottom half is the same as every other engine.
