Lazarus, my 96 150 xl 302 e4od 3.55 lsd 4x4, likes to cruise at about 70 with no head wind. But, true to a 302, if I'm going 60 with traffic I gotta juice it a bit going up steep hills on the highway. Had the speedo pegged during the test drive no problem.

Mine goes all the way back around to zero.
I don't like pushing my truck past 6,000 rpm.
It's an 85 MPH speedo, and I won't admit to my GPS speed.

you must have some serious issues with that old 460 if your gears are what you say they are mine purrs like a kitten without a problem at that speed......even with 31s it would do 80 that's just a hair over 3000 rpm if you have 3.55 gears.....but if you do your math with 31s and a 4.10 gear rear that's roughly 67-68 mph at 3000rpm so i would say u have a 4.10 under her butt not a 3.55 the only other way it would be that slow would be from a seriously slipping tranny and i bet you would know if that was the case

80s nothing lol

just the other night i lined up against my bro. in laws ranger with a hot lil 5.0 and a hundred shot of nitro vs my 78 with 460 cruised about 15 miles at 120+ and the only time he ever could pull away was when he hit the "go baby go" i love those long stretches we had a few cars try to keep up from the time we left the party but all those chevys tapped out while we were justa flying away theres nothing like the look of 2 good ol boys enjoying what ford made and the great straight aways of kansas passin new chevs without even gruntin lol god bless america

After getting my 92 back together, and most of the bugs worked out, mine will now do just over 80 in 4th, and hold 77 mph in 5th. I know if I regear to 3.55s from the 3.08s, I'll have the extra torque to go as fast, or faster, with less strain on the engine.

Mine will do 80, and back in my younger days I would run that all day long, but something about watch the gas gage drop while I am driving.... So any more I am quite content to just set the cruise at 65 and cruise on the interstate

Right now? No, she's being torn down. Before? 80+ Easily. 460 with 4.10 manual.

80+ is the goal, all the lower speeds are just a measure of how I'm not going as fast as I want to.

My 95 E40d 3.?? gears does 90+ with ease and thats with a questionable front end and no floor boards blowing oil smoke the whole way (bad shape all around) My 95 351 C6 4.10's cant get out of its own way after 60 mph and shes a rust free 100% truck.

70-75 feels comfortable, like the engine is in it's sweet spot. Truck goes straight and rides nice, tires are singing away.

My old SHO on the other hand, had that up to 135 and decided to back it down. That thing was like a personal jet; very comfortable, smooth and fast. I still miss it to this day.
