They did say that I could get a rental on their dime, but things kept coming up after work so I never got the chance to get one.

With that said, today the service manager called and said it was fixed and that it was because of bad gas. He said they drained the tank and flushed the injectors and put new gas in and it didn't do it to them at all today so he thinks it fixed it. We'll see tomorrow morning once it's cooled off and I take it to work. I was a little upset cause I brought it in with 10 gallons of gas and when I got it back they only refilled it with 3. I almost said something but thought 7 gallons isn't that big of deal, but it's just the fact behind the matter that bugged me. First off, I buy a brand new vehicle, it starts acting up, so I bring it in and was super cool about how long it took them to fix it, AND I didn't even get a rental, and then you go and don't even fill the tank up with at least how much it had...I was HOPING for a full tank since I was good about not getting the rental and being so patient with them, but apparently that was too much to ask. Ugh. Oh well, at least I got the latest software update...whatever that does. I asked him and he had no idea. It also doesn't say on the receipt as you can see. I feel like they're all there to just fill a 9 - 5 position and/or make money and really don't TRULY care about fixing the vehicle...

thats crazy I'm sorry you had to go through that. I can say I would not be as kind as you were. But I tend to have a bad temper with stuff like that. I really hope the problem is fixed, and if not let me know and we will drop your truck off together and you will be walking off the lot with the truck of your choice haha.

So it's not fixed. Just went out about 5 mins ago and it's doing the exact same thing...I kinda figured it wasn't bad gas.

start looking at your next truck haha. well make sure you get a rental this time. Pick it up full and return it empty to make up for the gas out of your truck

Definitely. Next time I'll take it there with .1 of a gallon and let them figure out how to troubleshoot it with no gas in the tank. And then I'll not fill the rental...man it just irritates me.

Yeah I really hope they fix it this time. I'd tell them you don't want the truck fixed until they are 110% that it is fixed.

Well I figured it out for real this time, thanks to Mike at 5startuning. He mentioned how Ford has different cold start tables, and the first one the ECU looks at on cold start is one where ignition timing is retarded....yes, retarded! So I hooked my phone up to the OBD2 port and sure enough, when I first start it, the ECU retards ignition timing 9 degrees! No WONDER it'll barely run!! What a stupid move by Ford. Check it out for yourself....

I've already ordered 3 tunes from Mike where he has changed the cold start timing from a negative value to 20*. I'm certain this will fix the issue.

Thanks man. Eh....all I lost was about $30 in gas. Frustrating, but oh well. I feel so much better actually KNOWING why....now it doesn't bother me when I start it up cause I know exactly what's causing it.

So did this fix it?

So was wondering if this truly resolved the issue. I have a 2012 SC 6.5 bed with the 5.0. I have not been happy with the way it runs at all. It died with less than 4,000 miles on it and had to be towed. They replaced the mass air sensor. Now it is running rough sometimes and gas mileage is dropping. Was getting about 15.7 in mixed driving - now 15.0. I had a 2005 with a 5.4 Triton and absolutely LOVED it. I am very disappointed with the 2012. Spent too much on gadgets and not enough on basic powertrain. (Transmission cut out when passing about 85 mph).
