Guys, I am looking for a circuit breaker for a 1949 Ford F-1. I have tried the three major parts distributors and even called them and they act like I am nuts. I have the wiring diagram for the 49 ford and it clearly shows the circuit breaker. We have tested all the wiring and have narrowed it down to the cb. Any idea on where I might get one?

 

Personally I would look for a suitable breaker from a parts yard. Where and in what circuit is the breaker located and how do you know it is bad? How much resistance thru it?

 

RV dealers sell modern 12v CB's for about $4 apiece, and in capacities of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 amps. The ones I got were even made in USA. I never really liked the original setup as it takes a major short to trip them, so I used modern fuses for most accessories, and new CB's for headlights and fuel pump.

 

i have the original circuit breakers from my 49 f1 that i took out when i did my ez wire. if you are trying to go original or just want to use them for the fun of it, i'll mail them to you. they mount just to the right of the instrument cluster, or just to the left looking from the back. if you want them (there are two) shoot me an email (pick up my email from the menu under my name. dick r.

 

It is a 6 volt (original) and when we by-passed the breaker everything works (that is why we believe this is the problem.
