96 5.0l swap in 04

Hey everyone, I have a crazy idea about my engine. I have the 5.4l in my 2004 f150, its been making the famous rattles and ticks but, thats to be expected from a motor with 300,000kms on it. I rebuilt a 96 5.0l a while back for an old project truck and its been sitting wrapped up in the corner of my garage for quite some time. Now after a few beers, my buddy said, "throw it in your 04", I laughed and said yeah right but, I got to thinking about it today. So aside from cost and all the fab involved to put it in, could it fundimently work? It's an EFI but, would it pass emissions in a newer vehicle? This isn't something that would happen anytime soon seeing as money is a huge issue but, I was just curious to see if it could work.

Thanks!

This has been discussed in length. You need to do a search then come back with any questions.

Well I've looked everywhere but obviously not in the right places, if you could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

Thanks!
