How much Boost is Safe for 6.4
Recently bought a 08 F-250 6.4. It was preowned and already has the DPF removed and deleted and is tuned with an H&S XRT Pro Tuner. I am running the Hot Damn Tunes but I usually "Grandpa Drive" to try to achieve the best fuel miliage. Almost all my driving is highway as I commute 110+ miles daily to and from work. Awesome Truck.
Question is: How much boost can these engines handle? When I do the tranny relearn it must be going over 40psi.....And occasionly when when passing on highway you can easily get pressure up when punching it.
What can it take as long as its not constant?

Rephrase the question some.
How much boost are we capable of producing (tuned)?....anyone put an aftermarket boost gauge on yet to see?
Does anyone think the engine can handle what we are capable of producing?.....how long is a short burst.
Already knew what the gauge goes up to
Thanks...

"Take" is a relative term...it will take boost well into the high 40s/low 50s PSI, right up until you lift the heads. If you want to run a hot tune safely, you need to stud the motor and should do a full EGR delete while you're at it. The transmission is also quite stout, but will only tolerate so much abuse at almost double the stock power levels...

When I first tuned my truck I saw it hit 62psi. That scared me (since I'm not studded) so I set the alarm on the DashDAQ to 42psi, stayed off the skinny pedal for a while and after I deleted the EGR I punch it every once in a while. The DashDAQ hasn't yelled at me yet, so I feel better about it.

I've been in a friends spartan 6.4, and 60 lbs of boost can happen fast and easy.
Also on higher spartan tunes, there is no safety built in, and no wastegate, so it will just boost as high as heck.
