Hello out there, I have a fairly simple question. I am looking to replace my 1995 ford bronco tailgate with a 1994 tailgate. I currently have electric w/w defroster, will everything still work properly?
It should.....if the new gate has the same defroster setup.
I swapped gates on mine and both had defroster hookups. I had to swap the key switch because I did not have the key for the replacement. Not a hard task but it works a lot easier with two people.
Be careful when releasing the torsion bar in the passenger side jamb. If the gate is almost fully closed when you remove the bolts that hold the "eye" in place in the jamb, it won't spring free abruptly.
Since I was reusing a lot of the inside items, I removed all I was reusing from the gate before I removed it from the truck....then swapped gates and installed the glass and everything else. Less chance of breaking the glass in my opinion plus the gate is a lot lighter.
