Help me diagnose transmission leak on 99 F250?
I just bought a 99 F250 last week. It did not appear to be leaking any fluids and had an inspection at that point and was deemed there are no problems. All fluids were drained and replaced at this point too.
Fast forward 4 days. Truck has been sitting for 3 days and is leaking transmission fluid. Enough that it is noticeable on the driveway after less than an hour. Appears to be coming from the front. It is dripping from the bolt on the bottom of the transmission (drain plug maybe?). There is transmission fluid kind of "all over" under there though - so hard to tell where the fluid is actually coming from.
I am not mechanically inclined and know not much about vehicles. I am attempting to learn some things to save myself money as going to the garage is just $$$$$$$$ ridiculous!
Anyone have any tips for diagnosing this problem? Truck runs great, not issues shifting and no noise/smoke/etc. Truck has a lot of miles on it - 170K so issues are expected.
