Made a few videos of ye ole' truck

This is what happens when I get bored on my days off.....

After reading this thread last night (Current Project: 93 Factory Turbo- pics) and hearing how beautiful the IDI sounded with all new parts, I decided to cry myself to sleep last night and then take a few videos of my truck today at lunch....just for kicks

I need to replace the IP, injectors I know for sure...I doubt the PO ever touched them and the truck has some miles on her.
She also needs the timing adjusted as Im sure the worn fuel system parts have royally degraded my timing.

Let me know if y'all see/hear any other issues that need to be addressed

Enjoy the idi/OBS eye candy

Revving the motor...does it sound like a have a slight miss when pressing the accelerator?
It sounds like I do (when standing next to truck) but I wanted to ask the experts

Two short startup/walk-around vids

I dont know whats up w/this first video but I imagine its similar to what people see when they are high on meth...especially at the end

well Chris, you said you were getting us some pics.this is even better!
the rev up i don't hear any miss in the vid, just a little turbo lag spool up.
easily corrected with a 3" dp from banks, and some exhaust wrap on the dp,up pipe, cross over.
she sounds and looks good.

ideally you don't really want to see any coal revving up off idle like that.just a hint at WOT uphill.
that's if your after decent EGT's and economy.po set 'er up a bit rich probably.
i see your sucking in warm, engine bay air.duct that to the cowl or front grill to feed her a little colder, denser air and she'll be happier.a bit more pep and lower EGT's.

Thanks guys!
Im glad to hear y'all dont hear a miss... I was really worrying about it.

As for the EGTs, mine are pretty low...the pyro shows about 8K at 70mph. I am debating on messing with the timing to see how she responds in hopes that maybe I can improve performance a little bit.

Good idea about the DP, its on the list but I need to get the fuel system squared away before I start getting other mods.

Yea, Im rocking the WAI (warm air intake) haha. That little "ram air" plastic piece had come loose and was flopping about so I pulled it out one day and haven't replaced it. I am thinking about running a 6637 filter like I had on my old PS..but that is still WAI. The cowl idea is pretty neat, Im off to the search bar to learn more.

On the downside I did have a bulged radiator hose today pics below

Well I drove to Canyon/Amarillo today (about 90mi) and smelled oil..... found a small leak when I arrived. Going to have to track that down after I get home sunday.

When I pooped the hood I also saw this pressurized/bloated radiator hose
Im hoping it is just a bad radiator cap or maybe the oil cooler...hopefully not head-gaskets
I do not see any bubbling when I pull the rad cap so I still a tiny iota of hope

Im going to check when i start it up and see if it bloats instantly...that will help determine if its HG related

800* @ 70 cruising on flats is a little high. My current IDI is about 550-600 and so was my last with your same turbo kit.

3" elbow and downpipe, with a better intake would help out a bunch.

Nice truck btw.

that is good to know. At least I have a baseline to work from.
Im going to play w/the timing (when I actually get some free time) and see what I can do.

yeah, with EGT's like that running empty, you wouldn't be able to haul a heavy load up a hill, and forget towing anything.she'd spike real quick up into dangerous territory and you'd be forced to back off real quick.not sure if downshifting would be enough, you'd likely find yourself crawling up a steep hill to keep her from melting down.
it appears to me,like the fuel screw adjustment would be the first place to start with black smoke off idle.but hey,we all use our trucks so differently, what will work for some would destroy an engine quick for others lol.you'll get 'er all dialed in im sure.

Well at this time Im not hauling anything on a regular basis. I usually use the truck as a DD and truck for road trips to visit family and the girlfriend.

I need check and see if the EGT probe is pre or post turbo....the PO installed it so I have no idea.

Good idea about checking the fuel screw, I assumed that the PO never adjusted it but you never know.

What should I be looking for?
I am assuming, tooling marks on the bolts of triangle IP plate on the side there and maybe the screw might turn easier than if it was unmolested?

also I bought a tester to check for exhaust gasses in my coolant...its going to be here weds ($20 off ebay)...just need to pick up the fluid from napa and Ill be ready to rock.
