What's the best oil?

I have a 2007 F-150 5.4 3V and I wanted to ask, what is the best full sythetic oil? Right now my truck has 81,000 miles and since it's getting close to 100k I want to go to a full synthetic oil. I know that 5.4 3V Triton's are sensitive to certain oils. So what's everybody's opinions on the best synthetic oil for the 5.4 3V from experience?

Over my 32yrs of owning trucks, I have used Walmart house brand, name brands & whatever was on sale. Even used Fram filters religously for yrs. I've changed oil at 3000 miles and 5000 miles. A few times it's been 8000 miles. Guess what. I have never had an oil related issue. Not even a mechanical issue with an engine. Oh and I won't even factor in that most of my vehicles had the dreaded K&N filter on them too. Regular oil changes is all you need to do.

Lot of guys here swear on this oil brand.... Motorcraft 5w20 Synthentic Blend

I've been using it for years now, and I sleep better knowing it's a decent oil and all Ford dealer shops use it for our trucks.

Walmart.com: Motorcraft Synthetic Blend Motor Oil, 5W20, 1qt: Automotive

This is the filter to use on our trucks:

Walmart.com: MotorCraft Oil Filter FL820S: Automotive

I change it every 5000 miles. I just changed mine last week.

I also use these two products. Although using 5w30 for the summer.

I just did mine yesterday.

2 of these for just under 8 bucks each
1 of these but of course in 5w-20 for about 32 bucks, strangely they don't have the 5w-20 on the website but about 10 on the shelf when I got mine 3 weeks ago.
1 of these for 13 bucks

While I was at it changed my fuel filter.

WIX - Fuel Filter Part # 33243 for about 14 bucks.

All said and done 75 bucks and waiting to see if my mpg picks up some. 2nd filter in 25k miles. First one at 10k miles(truck was about 3 years old) and the dark tea tinted crap that dripped out of it was scary.

This time around slightly tinted. Wife is pissed because the 1st floor smells of gasoline since the fumes from the garage followed me inside. I did not remind her that it smelled worse the first time I did it due to more gasoline ending up on me AND then tracking thru the house to shower upstairs.

I am hoping the extend life is worth the extra 18 or so bucks for the oil and filter all together. I will most likely leave it in for 10k. The filter is also about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the WIX I used last time.

With the oil passages so narrow on these engines use the recommended weight. Should be 5w-20. Needs to be thin enough to work through these small channels. Any big name will work. Always use Moto filters. The drain back valve is superior to most others.

I also use the Motorcraft 5w20 Synthetic Blend since day one and I'm at 130k now. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic in my bike no issues with either....

I have used Mobil 1 5w-20 with a Mobil 1 Filter for all but 15K of the 80K my truck has been driven. I change the oil and filter every 5K. The only other oils in my truck were were the factory oil when it arrived and Quaker State synthetic 5w-20 I ran a few times. The Mobil 1 is hands down my oil and the oil my truck seems to maintain the best. When I used Quaker State I was losing 1 quart every 2,500 miles (no smoke, no leaks, just gone). Not saying Quaker State is a bad oil, just that my truck did not perform well with it.

TexasReb,

I gotcha, I like mobil 1 also but it is getting just so expensive. I was talking to someone who owns a trucking company and he told me that what you do is when you have an oil like mobil 1 syn, you do one oil change a year, every six months you just replace the filter and add a quart of oil. He said that it helps the engine seal better. Have you ever heard of this???

The most I have heard of is 1 year 15k with synthetics designed for extended intervals. If it is my vehicle I will change oil and filter every 5k, then again I spend 4-5 months a year in 90-100+ degree temps which is hard work on vehicles and fluids.

I have several relatives that own construction companies here in Texas with good sized fleets and they all have their company mechanics service EVERY vehicle per heavy duty use service intervals recommended by the manufacturer.

When I had my Powerstroke I changed the oil every 5k with Motorcraft filter and Valvoline Premium Blue 15w-40 plus a new fuel filter every other oil change. Ran that baby almost 240K before I sold it with only a busted water pump and a warranty replaced transmission the only major repairs during that span.
