>>> PITMAN ARM PULLER <<<

I am looking at three pitman-arm pullers:

MATCO PA643

OTC 7311A

OTC 7310A

For use on my 1985 F-350, 1972 F-250, and 1990s Dodge 3/4- and 1-ton trucks, which of these three choices would be my better option ??

Will all three of them serve my needs, or are any of them a NO GO ??

Thanks.

If you've been looking at the on-line why not give us the links to the tools? It has been several hours since you posted and there have been no responses, so I'm guessing that others are thinking the same thing - help us help you by making it easy for us. And, by giving us the links you ensure we are all looking at the same thing.

Here are the OTC pullers :

Amazon.com: OTC 7311A Pitman Arm Puller: Automotive

Amazon.com: OTC 7310A Pitman Arm Puller: Automotive

I do not have a link to the MATCO one.

I was hoping someone that actually owned any of these pullers would respond, saying "I have such-and-such one and it works on my F-350"

Thanks.

I can't tell the difference between the two OTC pullers as it looks like they used the same picture, and then I can't tell which of the two is the same as the Matco puller. IOW, they all look alike but one of the OTC's is bigger than the other.

I like any of those better than my puller as mine has fixed arms and almost doesn't fit our trucks. Those pullers all have adjustable arms so should be able to be adjusted to fit whatever you are working on.

Looking at the specs, the 7310 is larger than the 7311.

Bigger is better, especially with trucks.

And here is bigger yet. Super Duty sized.

And here is one made for Ford F250/F350.

I think the last one may be the one I have. I'll try to remember to measure mine tomorrow, but that's certainly what it looks like. And it only caught one side well and the other side just barely. It worked, but I was afraid something was going to break.

I can't say it'll work on all of those trucks or not, but I just bought a non-adjustable 14$ pit man arm puller from Autozone made by OEM. It was the bigger one they had. Fit my truck perfect and worked. I didn't buy one that was adjustable because I didn't need one that was adjustable, and this inexpensive one did the job very easily. Broke my pit man arm loose without a problem. I did have to use my leg as a cheater bar though.

This is one of the ones that I used when I did mine.

Although, I broke this one and while waiting on a warranty replacement, I bought a different one from Napa and used it instead. I also had to pull my tie rod ends, so all was well and I actually did need both of them.
This is a link to one that is similar to the other one that I purchased and used. OEM/Damage free tie rod end remover for import and many front wheel drive vehicles (27175) | Tie Rod End Puller | AutoZone.com

That's almost identical to mine. Mine has a lot more meat on it at the jaws than yours did though, and not quite as skinny. I wish they would've made the nut on the end of the bolt a little bigger though. More meat can't hurt.

Hence, my quest for something a bit more dependable before I undertake the task again.

I have a shiny new REDHEAD and would like to get it installed so I can enjoy the wonderful driving experience they are so highly acclaimed for.

Thanks and keep the information coming.

The opening in the jaws was actually slightly larger than I needed it to be. I ended up purchasing a different type of one, and warrantied that one. Now, I have two different ones. I need to get a picture of them together.

That's exactly the problem I had - slightly too big. It would catch well on one side but only on the tip on the other. That's why I like the idea of an adjustable puller.

I like the looks of that Super Duty OTC puller.

I think I'll get one of those when I get mine. I REALLY need a new Redhead for my truck...soon!

(Steering, guys...the redhead in the house is just fine)

I have a Snap-on one that looks like an open sided cup and one of the light duty ones. I also have one you drive between the box an the arm.
