I need a new Chrome Clad wheel...
I have the OEM 18" Wheel package that came with the "Texas Edition" I think they call this just the Chrome or Chrome-Plus package in the rest of the country. Anyway I started a thread awhile back on how something fell off a landscaping truck while I was on the highway and when I ran over the thing it hit my wheel at say 70 mph.
The result was that one of the plastic-chrome spokes has a 6-7" crack and looks smashed where the debris actuall hit. I'm now at a point where I have saved enough to do something about it. My question is if I buy a new OEM 18" Chrome clad wheel from Ford do I need to buy any new sensors for the wheel too? or can I just take the wheel to a tire shop and have them mount the wheel and send me on my way.

From what I know about TPS (tire pressure sensors) is that they can be moved to different wheels, and the ones I have seen have replaceable valve stems. So I believe you will be able to remove the sensor from your old wheel, perhaps need or want to replace the valve stem on it, put it on the new wheel, and drive away. Should not need any new programming or anything because you are not changing the sensor.
Do any wheel refurb places, or perhaps take-off places, have the wheel you want? Seems to me that dealers charge megabucks for OEM wheels because most of them are bought by insurance companies to replace stolen wheels and as such are marked up a lot.

Look on eBay. There are hundreds of stock Ford rims there...new takeoffs and used ones. Assuming your new (to you) rim has a sensor-type valve stem in it; when you're having the tire switched over, they will just need to screw your old sensor to the inside end of the valve stem in the new rim. Also, check with local dealers or places like Discount Tire. They might have some around, but they'll likely want to sell them in a set of 4.

You can also look up the local LKQ/Keystone Automotive in your area, they own a few wheel companies as they are in the crash business. Usually pretty good pricing as well.
