1965 1966 F100 Emergency Flashers Question
My 1965 Ford F100 did not come with the emergency flasher option, so I want to add it. I purchased this set up (see pictures below) and was told it was a 1965 F100 Emergency Flasher add-on.
From reading it looks like the **** goes on the dash (see picture below) and the flashing light plug goes above the ignition switch.
So why the mounting bracket on this set up I purchased?
Help.

The flashing light plug goes above the ignition switch.
It doesn't, for one reason, the wiring isn't long enough.

The whole enchilada is shown here in an exploded view: 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration Section 145.2, Page 1.
You will need to view this pic. Ask FTE member Old Harley to scan and post it, as he has this catalog on a CD. You can buy your own CD catalog from hipoparts.com for $21.95, a roaring bargain.
You will see that you have to drill a hole in the dash to the left of the switch to install the lamp. The switches bezel has threads on its backside, threads off/on the bracket.
Remove the ****, unscrew the bezel. The bracket butts up to the dash, the open section points towards the floor. Once the bracket is butted up, screw the bezel back on, then reinstall the ****.
The 4 way switch **** is the same as the wiper switch **** (C1TF-17513-A). The **** has a #8 -30 headless set screw that retains it in place on the shaft.
Hold the lamp socket with one hand, push the spring loaded bezel forward with the other, then while holding it, twist the bezel off by a 1/4 turn from the socket.
The bezel fits on the outside of the dash, the spring loaded socket w/wiring behind the dash.
See that white piece of tape looped over the wire? That has a Ford ID number printed on it. The first 3 digits of its prefix should begin with C5T if this setup is for a 1965.

Bill, I have to question you
Bill, I have to question you. Why would the mounting bracket for the **** (that activates the flashing light) have words on it if it is to be mounted behind the dash?
Or maybe I'm missing what you are saying.
This switch/**** bracket looks like it mounts under the dash and hangs below?
NO?

The 4 way switches were mounted in the dash until 1967, then were mounted inside the glove box on 1967/69's on a bracket. Moved back into the dash 1970/72.
1973/79 T/S switches have a **** on them that operates the 4 ways.
'64/72 truck catalog = Section 145.2, page 1 shows the 1965/66 set up. Same section page 12 shows the 1967/69 setup, page 13 shows the 1970/72 setup.

The parts you posted pics of, look identical to what shown in the parts catalog. The style of **** matches the other ***** on the dash.
No 4 way flasher switch that I'm aware of, mounted under the dash or on the steering column. It's possible gypo setups bought from autoparts stores mounted there, but I've never seen one.
Did you unroll the piece of white tape looped over the wire to see what the Ford ID number was that's printed on it? Prolly not.
I'm thru with this thread, ask Old Harley to scan and post the pic. If you don't believe what the pic shows, that makes no sense. You can lead a mule to water, but you cannot make it drink.

Just bought it, haven't received it yet
Bill,
It's not an argument, it's a dialogue. I would never argue, since we are both unpaid and both enjoy Ford Trucks more than most, hence the Forum.
The computer is a horrible way to communicate. There is no way to convey volce tone and body language, which, did you know, comprise of 93% of a human conversation. Ever hear of the 7/38/55 rule of human communication. Only 7% of human communication is the actual words. 38% is tone of voice and 55% is body language. No ****.
That is why e-mail is not a good medium to communicate AND it was never designed for that. E-mail was created to transmit technical information, not to have conversations. American business relies so much on e-mail, which is really bad. We try and insert silly icons in order to steer the intent, but they rarely replace the required 93% non-words component. "Pick up the phone and call the person." That's what I tell my staff.
Anyway, I do appreciate your knowledge and your willingness to share it. I think everyone on this Forum does.
Also, I actually haven't received the part yet, it is in route to me. Once I get it, I will most certainly roll the white tape back and report what it there.
Until I know more.............

Ok, I have the answer
This part was used for multiple things. The writing is on the bracket because in some appliations it is surfaced mounted.
On the 1965 F100, this set up sits side by side in the factory holes along the bottom of the dash.
And yes, the bracket with writing goes behind the dash (so it is hidden).
Yeah.
Thanks for everyone input.
