OK so I am under my truck now, and my transmission pan says "service internal filter". I also don't see any external filter if I follow the transmission lines up to the front radiator area. My build date was 6/07.

Well after looking for the external filter this morning and reading the transmission pan that says Service internal filter. I called the dealer and gave them my VIN number and they confirmed I do have an internal transmission filter on my job 1 truck

What is the correct filter part # for the internal filterror? Ft-144, ft-179, or ft-180?

Had mine hot flushed and filled at the dealer. The internal filter is lifetime according to Mike Fitzpatrick Ford in Newnan, Ga. No external filter and it's a job 1.

That's not how they were building them at the factory. If it's really a job 1 truck it has an external filter. If it's a job 2 the external filter is gone and the internal is NOT a lifetime filter. It's too bad the so many dealers know so little about these vehicles.

Mine is a job 1 and I have no external filter. Job 2 trucks got back up camera, wasn't an option at the time. Job 1 had the small chin spoiler, job 2 had the larger one. My truck came with the smaller one.

Finally was able to get the fluid and filter changed. Really easy, well except for that stupid filter seal. Lol. But I drove it to get up to temperature, then drained out 9 quarts. I removed the pan then the filter. Put the new filter in, cleaned the pan and magnet. Everything looked good. No noticeable pieces. Then reinstalled the pan. I added 8 quarts, started it up. Ran through the gears, then checked level. Tomorrow I will drive it and recheck levels adding fluid as necessary. For the record, I have a job 1 truck with an internal filter. The new filter I put in was FT-180.

All trucks, job 1 and job2, have an internal filter. The real question is do you have an external filter?

No external filter. I have the larger internal filter. For the trucks that have the true internal filter, The transmission pan says "service internal filter". The trucks with external filters do not have that stamping. If I had an external filter, the ft-180 would not have fit.

The external filter is a lousy design and only filters a small quantity of the fluid. If you have the external filter there is not an internal filter only a screen in what looks like a filter but is only a pickup. This is only in 2008 Job 1 super duty pickups. 2008 Job 2 and 3 had the internal pan filter and went to a full synthetic transmission fluid. ONLY use the Motorcraft synthetic fluid when changing. NEVER anything else. I changed my fluid at 30k and again at 60k. I have the internal pan filter even though I have a Job 1 pickup. The internal filter filters all the fluid as it being pumped up from and goes into the transmission.
I personally do not recommend a flush for one the reason already mentioned. If the fluid is bright red with no brown and smells fine not burnt just replace the fluid and filter and you will be fine. USE MOTOCRAFT FLUID.
