Motorcraft Oil supplier news

This is an industry insider article that may not make much sense to a wider audience. I post it here because ConocoPhillips has been the blender of Motorcraft lubricants for a very long time. I suspect the newly formed company will continue to do so, but Ford may also decide to go with someone else.

Phillips 66 Refines Its Niche

In the rest of the world Ford uses Castrol (a unit of BP). Castrol has developed a special lubricant for new Eco-Boost engines in the European market. GM has gone for a single oil standard world wide, instead of different ones for different markets. Maybe Ford will do the same.

Interesting read. Thanks for posting. I had read before that Motorcraft oil was manufactured in Korea. Causes me a little concern but I still use it.

The full synthetic is Korean, from what I read on a bottle of the Kendall brand. but not the "blend". The reason is probably that more synthetic base oil is refined in South Korea than anywhere else in the world.
