Chrome step bumper for a narrow frame

Several years ago I bought a sweet chrome step bumper for my 75 F-150 at a super price to replace the painted step bumper. Last year I learned real quick
that it was made for a truck with a 2 1/2" narrower frame. OOPS. I am open for suggestions.

The painted bumper you have is correct, the chrome bumper isn't and neither are the brackets.

If you want to use it anyway the solution is easy I've done it both going wider and narrower. simply use your original brackets and find the width spacer material you need and make a pair. drill the holes and get longer bolts and you have it. if you want to use the outer braces you'll have to modify them which is also easy.

Last year I bought the adapters on line. They did not fit. The video did not help either. I ran out of patience
and remounted the painted bumper. Wish'd the actual adaptor brackets were available. I'll try again.

it's aftermarket so you can only expect so much.

in my opinion your original bumper looks to be in nice shape, I'd much rather have it that than a generic bumper with old chrome. but it's your pickup.

I watched the video on You Tube....again. The straight bracket adapters fit. However,
what happened to the angle braces? The installation is useless without them.

The bumper wouldn't take a hit as well without the braces but it will fit and look just fine.

You have to cut a piece out and weld it back together. . easy to do.
