460/T18 mating

I have a industrial 460 laying around with a crank that is not designed to take an auto transmission, so the pilot bearing in the crank won't accept a standard C6 torque converter bearing. The question that I have, is would I be able to mate a T18 4sp to the engine? Does a t18 have a pilot bearing like a c6 does?

Thanks
Jameson

Yes, you have a pilot for a manual trans. There are two sizes of AT crank pilots for those motors. Could that be your AT problem? What size is the hole in the back of the crank?

kedwinh is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Being a motor not intended for highway use it may not have a crank designed to mate to a trans.

iirc, there are 1 3/8 and 1 7/8 inch pilot bearings for standard c6 tc. The bearing hole in the rear of the crank is about 3/4 to 7/8 inch

as for accepting a trans, it has the right bolt pattern for a flywheel/flexplate, and a trans bolt pattern on the block. The crack is the 460 stroke version of the 370 industrial crank, which was used in busses and other large vehicles
