Brake drum question on tranny

I'm looking to replace my worn ZF5 2x4 tranny and have found a couple prospects. One that caught my eye was a 5 speed(probably a ZF5)that cam out a 90 f450. It has a brake drum installed on it. Will this work on my f350? Also, I have read that the brake drum can be removed and a BW Tcase will bolt right up. Am I correct here?Just curious.

Yes it will work...
This has got to be like the 10th time I've written this, but the F-superduty or F-450 with ZF used a 4x4 ZF with the brake drum. Remove the brake drum and a transfer case bolts up. This is the exact route I took on my truck.

Now if you're wanted to go 4x4 with your 2wd truck, thats a whole other can of beans you probably don't want to get into...... swapping front axles(suspensions!!!) is not as easy or fun as it sounds.

Oh yah... make sure its a diesel ZF, the gas ones used 2 different bellhousing patterns and neither matches the diesel.

The guy sold it before I could get it. Thanks anyway, and yes, I'm going to do the 4x4 swap. I'm up for the challenge. All I'm going to do at the moment is get the tranny and Tcase. Than when my brother comes back for Christmas, we'll finish it than.
