help please!

i have a 2008 F250 Super duty, 6.4L Diesel. i had an after market prodigy brake controller installed and all hell broke loose. the truck wouldnt start when the brake control was connected, the check engine light came on and stayed on and when i started the truck with the controller unplugged and then when i plugged it back in all my gauges went to zero. so.....i took my truck to the ford dealer and had them run a diagnostic and it had a ton of error codes caused by the brake control. so...they said for me to install a ford brake control it would be 1300 dollars...they saud they would ahve to install a brake control module($400), a new master cylinder($300), brake flush($109) and labor of $400....does anyone know anything about this? and what can i do here? thank you.

I would call Tekonsha who makes the Prodigy controller and ask them if their product fouls up your truck. Ask them what needs to be done to make their product work on your vehicle.

This sounds like a bad install to me, did you install it yourself or have someone do it for you? There is NOTHING that a brake controller should wire to that can cause your truck to not start. That means that it wasn't installed correctly in my opinion.

i had it done a very reputable RV store...the tech plugged right into the pigtail made for the brake control hook up right under the radio.

Then it needs to go right back to that RV store for this very reputable tech to take another look. I don't believe in coincidences, and the truck isn't going to stop running right immediately after an aftermarket installation on its own. Something caused this, and the logical culprit is the brake controller.
