Hello all! My wife is looking at 2012 escapes. She wants the 4 cyl. Awd. Only other option she wants is a sun roof. We are buying this one new.
Anything we should be looking out for. Are these rigs reliable? Any transmission issues?
I think they have pretty much made the same engine trans combo for a couple years now so I am hoping they have all the little bugs worked out.
Thanks in advance for the replies.
Sounds great. Thanks for the imput! Anyone have any problems with 10s or 11s? I am under the opinion that these are solid little vehicles. Just doing some research on them.
We have an early production 2010 XLT 4 cyl. but with FWD, have less than 20k miles on it, no problems. Have sunroof, SYNC, and cargo packages. Would buy it again.

These are solid vehicles with over a million on the road. I see a lot of early models still running and looking good with well over 100k on the odometer. I have 193k on my 2002 and 110k on my 2009.

This is awesome to hear. We are going to look at more soon. I appreciate everyone's imput.
we just traded our 09 xlt 3.0 in on saturday for a new 12 3.0 xlt with leather sunroof sync. the 09 was great had 93000 km on it and only had one problem that was covered under warranty. its the wifes vehicle and she loves the escapes, of course up here need the 4wd. and i feel she is safe driving it all times of the year. only thing the stock michelin tires are crap good if all you do is highway, but in the snow and sticky stuff they arent to good

Please 'splain. I know 07 models had the CD4E. Do you mean Ford started using the 6 speed in January 2008? Does that also mean that *some* 08 models will have the CD4E and some the 6 speed?

They must mean the '09MY started installing the 6F35's in '08.
"01-08" = 2001-2008 MODEL YEARS. We speak of everything in Model Years. The powertrain upgrade for model year 2009 included the 6F35 (unless you got the XLS base model, which came standard with a manual trans).
On a completely different issue, we got 32.5 MPG out of our 2010 on a 350 mile run running 65 - 70 MPH. Broken in, and finally NOT running into a strong headwind! The last a quarter or so of the trip we had the A/C on, the rest, not. Sunroof and windows were closed. Cruise control was ON for at least 90% of the trip. That's with the 4 cyl. with FWD. Have the roof rack with the crossbars on it, but nothing was carried on the roof. No unusual driving, i.e., not drafting semi's etc.
