Hi, friends! Pinballing across the country...
Very random post here. I'm driving from Atlanta back to Los Angeles by way of New Orleans today. Crossing through and around anywhere that looks good. I took off a week ago to see the eclipse from South Carolina and realized I should've made a post asking if anyone needed any simple transport for something heavy or simply a little too far away.
I'm missing my truck (had to rent a car or else I wouldn't be able to eat on my trip) and thought I'd check in and say hi and see if I could help anyone out along my route.
Also, any restaurants, towns, junk shops, antique spots, and pretty view suggestions are welcome always!
Thanks, guys!!

This place is just perfect. Thank you so much for the suggestion. Between the beautiful coast and this salad slowing me down in the best way, hopefully I'll miss the hurricane. Not in a hurry at all.
Stopped by the USS Alabama earlier and toured the ship/planes. The day is still young!

The coast is so pretty. So glad I did this drive. I'm in New Orleans now for a couple days waiting out the storm. Good excuse to eat well and indulge a little
Thank you again!

The Oak is what you see outside the windows all around the house @ MM's. It's over 300 years old & withstood hurricanes Katrina & Camille
Legend has it that Jean Lafayette (pirate who helped Andrew Jackson in Battle of N.O.) had a tunnel leading up to house.
If you go north, you might put Natchez on your itinerary. You could go up Hwy 61 (AKA "blues highway" & Bob Dylan song) to Vicksburg & p/u I-20 west.
We live east just outside Jackson in the center of the state.
Good luck & have fun.

The wife says if in N.O. you should visit here.
Not elegant, in kind of an industrial area, but REALLY great stuff:
New Orleans Bakery | Maurice French Pastries | 504-885-1526
Also check out the WWII museum if you have time.
A haunted history tour (at night of course) in Quarter is pretty cool too.
(Edit) beignets @ Cafe Du Monde is mandatory as well:

David!
Got out of New Orleans just as the sky broke open. What a crazy place. I didn't get to the bakery but a shop had their goods (so I ate them). Had beignets every morning at cafe du monde. Almost got nipped by a mule. Found a dog. Had tons of fun. Right now I'm in twin arrows az. Raining and lightning threatening but beautiful. On the short road home.
Thank you for all your help. It won't be the last time I drive. Next time hopefully I'll have more money! I'd have loved to see Natchez. I love the history in that area.
Take care and eat good!
