Maybe they're still lookin' for it?

Cool! Where's the spare tire going to go? I've been thinking about adding this to the short list of projects for mine. My spare has been in the bed, taking up space and looking like crap.

On the other side of the box, I'll get more pics up later. The chest is for a ranger IIRC, that I bought used from another member here, which is exactly what I wanted. Just enough storage space for the jack and a smattering of tools. The mount I'm making will pick it up 6 1/2" so that I can still haul 8' lumber and it's wide enough for sheets of plywood

That's exactly what I'd like to do with mine. Smaller box for necessities, and still enough space under it for longer stuff. Mine is a short bed, so I'm already at a disadvantage...

Yea I had a cross box before but, whatever you're looking for is always on the other side and this has more useable space

Worked some more on the box & spare mount today.

The spare is going to mount to a bracket (I haven't built that yet) then slide into the receiver just like a Reese hitch.

Then I gave it a quick coat of Rustoueum. The blue matches pretty good!

The unpainted square stock will be part of the bracket. This way I can mount it to the spare then lift and drop the spare into place, I plan to secure it with a locking pin

So it was a hot and long work week so I did nothing yesterday except go to the DMV to get my license renewed, oh joy! Today I mowed the lawn then it rained so now it's really muggy out there, but I did pull the cab fairing out of storage and set it on the truck. Now that the cross box is out of the way this will finally get painted and installed. I also put one of my spare 31" Goodyears in to see the fit. These tires are shot and I plan on putting 32x11.50 next. I hope to borrow a buddies 32" for final measurements, but I don't expect a problem, just to be sure.

SO have you ran into any glitches with A/F Ratio's, Spooling issues/Rpm issues, general drivability issues, etc?

Have you taken it for a quick spin?
