Stereo rookie with 2012 F350 sub question

I installed some new Infinity speakers (thanks to darren32 ) in my 2012 F250 CC and the mid to high range is fantastic, but they lack bass.

Is the factory head unit capable of running a small sub? If so, what should I be looking for?

If not, what's the best way to get some more bass without swapping out the head unit or breaking the bank?

Thanks!

B&L, what type of Infinity speakers did you install? I just purchased the Infinity 6.5" components. Hopefully these will have more bass than the 5x7 Boston Acoustics that are in there now. I have an Alpine amp running off the OEM deck with a Scosche aux (scosche.com) right now but have on order an Alpine processor.
I am debating on replacing the entire head unit.

Get a small sub built for your truck. Several companies build them. MTX & JLAudio are 2. They come with amps or without. They take up little space & are designed for your truck.

Yeah, I guess just taking it to stereo shop and getting it set up would be the easiest thing, but it probably won't be the cheapest. I was hoping to keep it simple and cheap, but that's rarely possible.

The speakers I installed are Infinity 6832CF.

The stock head unit, or any head unit for that matter, will not drive a sub. You'll need an amp.

To get the signal to the amp, you'll need something like this. All you do is unplug the main connector on the back of your factory radio and plug this into the harness. Now you have line-outs which you can run to a processor, amp or EQ. It's the simplest way to go for less than $50 and it retains all the stock radio functions. However it does not work if you have the amplified THX system already.

How much you spend on the rest is up to you, but you can have some good bass for a few hundred more, if not less.

I am looking to achieve bass as well after trading-in my 2011 F250 Lariat with the sub that I now miss. I knew I had good bass but never that's where it came from. Nor did I care for the space it took-up however. So, what you recommed sounds easy enough. Then, you need an amp and speakers with subs? What would a retail store charge for this labor? $100 on top of thier product?

I just assumed that the FX Lux pkg would have the same sound system - wrong! I guess only Lariat as stock.

BTW: how do you get two pics on your sig??

2013 f350 sony premium sound.

Can anyone tell me how to wire the mid amp for 6X9 BA if i have the sony premium sound? I have the wire diagram. I think i leave the tweeters running through the audio digital signal processing module and just divert mids, pre ADSPM to the alpine amp, and then cut off mid wires post ADSPM and wire those to the out side of the amp. Will the system still operate if i cut these wires out and divert them?
