Rancho RS5000.....what is your opinion?

Getting in desperate need for new shocks on my 2007 f250 PSD. I have looked until i'm ready to pass out from all the confusing numbers and reviews. I know....Bilstein, Bilstein, Bilstein....is what I hear but I'm not certain.

Has anyone used the RS5000 on this type of truck? Any good/bad points?

I need some good information from people who actually have tried all the options. I think Rancho gets a bad rep because of the factory shocks put on the FX models....but hey....they could be that bad. I need some input guys!!!!

The FX4 shocks are 'Rancho-branded'. Basically Ford shocks painted white with a Rancho sticker on them.

The 5000's are probably a step up from them. Guys here like the 9000s because of the adjustability.

Bilstein HD's get great reviews. I had them on my last truck and they made a big difference. My current truck has the FX4 shocks and I'm already looking in to replacing them with HD's or the 5100 series.

Well I think anything is better then the stockers. I am looking at either bilsteins 5100 or the Rancho RS7000MT. I leaning towards the 7000MT's. Just thought I would throw another option into a confusing thing already. Alot of people talk about the rancho 9000 and there adjustability. I think that would end up being a hassel after awhile. You could pay more and adjust them from the inside of the cab but then thats another thing.

For me it will come down to which has the best deal between the 5100 and 7000.

I'm running the 7000MTs. Rancho caters to the off road crowd and you can see that in these shocks. They are stiff, but in a good way. They wont give you the smoothest ride, but they are a good shock.

I'm also running the 5000s, and that's pretty much my experience too. I'd say they are just a step above the stock shocks.

I have the FX4 "Rancho" shocks and they don't seem too bad. I am def going to upgrade soon to the Bilstein HD's or the 5100's, just don't know which one would be best. Anyone recommend one over the other?? Or something different like the OP asked??

I have the 5100s and the ride pretty nice. They don't bounce like the old FX4 ranchos did.
They are firm, and ride decent. If I was going to do it again I probably would have went with the RS9000 adjustable. Or the Bilstein 5160s. I still might swap mine out. Though the 5100s are a definite improvement over what I had.

I have a set of them in the garage that were for the Ex, but the Ex's have been traded in

ran them on a previous Ex and they were fine for my purposes...
like stated anything is better than stock, especially worn out stockers

Thanks for all the input folks. I do NO off roading, all street for me except for fire wood cutting and hauling out of the woods. Truck is completely stock.........so that is why I was thinking I could get away with the Ranchos.

I'll be going with the adjustable 9000XL shocks. The 7000 looks like a good shock, and has more gas charge to prevent aeration when offroading, but with my short wheelbase and aftermarket springs I want to be able to tune the shocks for comfort on and off road.
