But I don't think that it is the type you're asking about.

I know BUT it has FORD on the grill.
Ford chassis that's moved by a Cummins engine turning an Allison transmission.
That's a darn good mix if you ask me.

I towed commercially with my F-350. Only thing I added was a cb and a 40 gal aux tank in the bed. The rest was just maintenance items.

Here is the thread I started on my truck; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ommercial.html

I do it part time when my primary business is slow. No modifications to my F450 beside adding air bags and winch.
Do you already have DOT number and commercial insurance?

Yes, this is very important. Lots of guys get themselves in trouble because they overlook all the DOT requirements when it comes to operating a commercial vehicle.

What kind of "commercial towing" are we talking about here? Are we talking towing and recovery of vehicles, or towing a trailer for commercial hauling?

I too am setting up for some "for hire" hauling to fill in the slow periods. Have the DOT# and will be working on the MC# later. Have commercial ins and will be adding cargo insurance. Will it pay? Who knows....

No. Unless you get into some closed contracts like oil fields equipment -there are so many truckers starving for the job, that they will drive below the cost only to have few dollars brought home for food.
Common rate is 50-70 cents a mile for hauling the boats while finding back load is like winning a lottery. Get a pen a paper to do the math.

sorry for taking so long to get back to this thread, school has kept me pretty busy. I don't actually even own a superduty right now. I am working on getting my bussiness degree and considered trying to start a truck hauling company so i was just trying to see what type of towing some of you guys are doing and what modifications you had to have or just wanted. I guess what i ment was hauling a trailer commerically.
