I just don't see the point of putting something non functional on the vehicle, especially something that reduces its capabilities, when there are plenty of functional alternatives available.

Bull bars are functional and practical. Is there a better way to mount a couple of driving lights on the front end for around $150? If there is then I would consider it.

Thanks Tims. Thought about that, but didn't want the holes in the bumper and clading on top of the bumper. Also didn't want them up blocking the radiator/grill.

Something like this might also work, but I really was hoping to keep them lower then this. Could just mount two lights. This is called a light bar. Hmmm

they are gonna block the grille no matter how you mount them. There are about a million bolt on solutions to mounting aftermarket lights to the front of the superduty... everything from pods that replace the factory towhooks, factory lights that mount in the front vents, grilles that house 2 big *** round lights, bumpercovers with additional holes for lights, etc. Light bars, bull bars, grille guards, full bumper replacements....

The bull bar is the most obtrusive option, and the one that would reduce your approach angle the most.

If you realize all this and just really want a hunk of chromed exhaust tubing hanging below your front bumper, thats cool.

Hey Rich, I did find this thread over in the Super Duty's. Some grill guards, some light bars, and some bull bars.

the bar i had on the 2004 mounts to the tow hooks, not from the bottom. its not actually marketed as a true "push bar" its a light mount..but it can save you from light hits. if your looking to push anything get a road armor bumper.

i have the other style light bar on my '02 now, only reason i went with it is i wanted 4 lights instead of 2.

I like that style. Complements the front end better than the other style... when I see the "bull bar" style its usually on like a ford escape.

It's a blast off roading in the Ex, with or without the cheezy bull bars!

I have the 78 for that... I beat the **** out of it, too, and its smaller than the excursion. The ex just plain wouldn't fit on any trails anywhere near here. And I'd be sad when I beat it up trying.

Yeah, It's sitting in the garage - took it off during the lift install.

I like those bumpers - but if I do go that route I think I probably should have gone with the X-codes instead of the V-code springs, with the extra weight of the bumper and all.
