In-cab sound deadener.

I spent a fortune on Noisekiller in my previous truck with great success. (You have no idea how much wind noise the 61-66 cab produces until you mask all other noise.) Anyway, I know some of the cheaper stick-on products are "asphaltic" in nature, so I thought I'd try "torch-on" roofing material, which is asphaltic and, best of all, absolutely free in smallish pieces to those of us who work in heavy construction.
Any thoughts?

I am planning to use Lizard Skin Sound Deadener, and then Lizard Skin Heat Shield in my cab. I have seen this stuff in action and it is impressive. It plugs some of the smaller holes, and then it acts like a Linex with an added heat dissipater.

Thanks Lizard;
Sounds like you did it right and got an excellent result. I am trying to do it wrong and get an ok result. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Or how it doesn't.

I've got a product called Pittwrap which looks similar to the Dynomat. It was given to me by an insulator. It is intended as a piping wrap, but the insulator told me that it works well in his, cough, chevy. I wouldn't know since I haven't installed it yet, but it was free. Good luck Eric.

What do youse guys think of bedliner as a sound deadening product?

I have thought about Rhino Liner for a non glare dash cover also. It should look similar to the dash in my car when completed.

Purchased a product that states it duplicates OEM sound deadening panels that meets OEM specks. The product is manufactured by Evercoat, they are self adhering 12x12 sheets of what appears to be an asphalt base type material, look like 12x12 sheets of rolled out tar. Installed them inside doors on the 65 where they fine until the cold winter months set in and they started peeling off. Took hair drying in an attempt to reinstall with no success!! I would not recommend them if live in cold climate.

When I get around to buying/installing an ABS headliner I am going to put a piece 1" thick industrial foam above it. That should make it a lot warmer in the winter.

I don't think so John, that stuff is impossible to get off. And not too thick (for noise) either.

I tell you guys do some research on Lizard Skin, I have seen this stuff and it is amazing. The sound deadener is like the quiet cab Ford uses on the New F150's and the Heat dissipater is nothing short of a miracle. I know of a guy who has an Electric Skillet and half of it is painted with Lizard skin Heat dissipater. He cooks an egg on the unpainted side while he puts his hand on the Lizard Skin. Now don't get me wrong he can't leave it there, put you can put it there for a couple seconds without a burn. I am going to spend about $300, and Sound Deaden, and Heat Dissipater from the firewall to the back window, on the bottom, and the Windshield to the back window on the top. I should also have enough to strip the doors of all the hardware, and then do the inside of them as well.

I have used Peel & Seal, which is a roofing product from Lowes...but only on floors and lower panels. I would not use it on overhead areas or inside doors.
The spray on stuff like lizard skin will work better in those areas.

Blue camping pads from walmart ; contact cement them to the floor under your carpet or mat . Works great and is cheap . Also works inside the doors and above the head liner ...
