Differences in Transmission Filters? E4OD

Ok guys my filter coming out of my transmission had no tabs or round spiggots sticking up out of the filter body. The new one does, making it not want to fit. The valve body doesnt have any matching slots for said tabs and spiggot. Old filter on the left, new on the right.

How about the other side of the filter? Is the "tube" the same length?

Yeah the tube is the same length, I made sure I had the shallow pan filter, not the deep pan.

The only difference for E4OD should be 2 or 4WD. What year/model do you have?

94' F350 Crew Cab 7.5l 2wd. I even argued with the guy from Auto Zone and then went to O'Reilly. Looks like both get their filters from the same supplier. The bitch of it is, I don't have a ride to be able to go to the Ford dealer.

I mean, I can try cutting those tabs off, and the little round spiggot, they are simply plastic and non-integral to the integrity of the filter, but damn, it's just odd that it wouldn't fit like that.

It's weird, but I would do what you said, cut whatever plastic is on the way, as long as it doesn't affect the filter performance and be done with it.

Made it fit, pain in the ***, but cut 1 tab off, and the spiggot fit over a valve body bolt
