Ex transmission service

My transmission is due for a full fluid change in the next couple of weeks and had a question about transmission fluid. I can get 20 qts of Advance Auto Parts store brand Mercron V for about 60.00 According to the manager Valvoline bottles their fluids and they pay to have the Advance name put on. Is this a quality fluid? the bottle says it meets the Ford spec but I am uneasy about putting "store brand" fluid in my truck. I changed the transfer case fluid with Valvoline Mercron V but at almost 6.50 a qt x 18 = and expensive bill is a little high. Is the store brand fluid ok to use in my excursion? Or should I just spend the extra and buy the motorcraft at the dealer? The truck has 272,000 miles on it and shifts like new! I dont wanna screw that up by using cheap fluid! Thanks!

I use Amsoil in everything I can. It hasn't let me down and I go 10K in between oil changes on the motor.

If Mark says it's fine, then you'll be fine. He knows fo sure. It meets the spec and that is what the tranny is built to run with, spec fluid.

In addition to these guys saying it is fine, I will also add that if you change the fluid at the manufacturer recommended intervals, it is especially fine.

Thanks for the input guys! I was just uneasy about store brand. I want to keep that transmission healthy, 272,000 miles and shifts line new, I want to keep it that way!

I've used a lot of the Carquest branded fluid which is also Valvoline and have never had an issue.
