I just drove threw Mooresville NC yesterday going to pick up a parts truck. It's only about 3 - 3 1/2 hours from me. How much is this guy willing to pay to get that Super Bee delivered?
I haven't talked to him in depth about it yet lol. I looked it up on Gas Buddy and, figuring worst case scenario @ 10 mpg, it'll be $430 in fuel alone. I figured I'd shoot him $500 and see what he says and cross my fingers nothing breaks lol
And Aaron, I may take you up on that offer someday lol
Nate, I pulled the load I sent you the pic of up I77. It wasn't a heavy load at all, probably 5-6k lbs trailer and all. I pulled every mountain on I77 in 5th gear at 70-75 mph, EGTs never went over 1000*. Even on Fancy Gap and Camp Creek. Those are two longest and steepest pulls. I was pretty happy with the way the truck performed. It's sweet spot towing light like that seems to be at 70-75 mph and about 2600 rpms. At 70 mph pulling those long mountains I still had power in reserve with that light of a load. The only thing that ever slowed me down was other traffic, but when I could get around them I could pick back my speed.
Here are a couple videos of Fancy Gap mountain. It is a 7 mile pull up, and like driving in Nascar going down it! LOL! I didn't make these videos, just some I found on Youtube. The first one is going up and the second is going down. Look close in the second video and you'll see a semi in the runaway truck ramp. that is pretty common to see on this mountain. The other one I mentioned, Camp Creek, isn't as long, but it is steeper. fancy gap mountain i-77 - Bing Videos
Jp do you plan on sleeping in your truck or make that trip in one day. Have to figure in food, hotel, and a decent profit. Seems like my work pays around .55 cents a mile, but I would go more than that just cause you are pulling something.

Jp...how on gods green earth can you take that chance? All it takes is one blow out and you are in the hole on that deal. Not to be a tool but I would do it for absolutely less than 1k $
Fuel.food away from home.main tenence.wear and tear.your time away from home.ther is a reason paying a service to get it is expensive...when it is a business you have to cover all possibilities.even then one brake down can ruin profits for quite some time.a business that makes no profit is a hobby...my hobbies donot include trapsing all over to make 50$ and brake my truck down.
Just looking out for you.I don't want you getting hosed!
Yeah JP, I think you're selling yourself WAAAAY short at that price. Just for comparison sake I had several quotes in the $900-1000 range to move my truck up from GA when I bought it. I wouldn't take the job for nothing unless you're just trying to do the guy a big favor. You're going to be into that project a couple days of your time, several meals, the wear and tear on your truck and the chance that you could break down along the way. I wouldn't take all that chance for nothing. That being said I have driven that stretch of 77 quite a few times myself and even towed a car and trailer through there (in a first gen Cummins, none the less) and your truck will handle it just fine. Just take your time and pay attention and you'll be fine if you decide to do it.
